Collingwood premiership player Dayne Beams has signed with Murray Football League reigning premiers Mulawala for the 2024 season.
The former Brisbane and Collingwood star most recently appeared for Darwin club Somerset in the DFA, while most of his year was spent with Mornington Peninsula Football League outfit Pearcedale.
Mulwala, who claimed the MFL flag last September, have added to their premiership defence with the signing of the former Lions captain.
The club confirmed Beams' move on Tuesday, with the Collingwood and Brisbane best and fairest winner bringing 177 games of AFL experience to the local-level Lions.
Beams' AFL career started with the Magpies in 2008, with the onballer going on to play a role in the club's 2010 premiership side as a 20-year-old.
Two years later he would claim the Copelan Trophy in a breakout campaign, averaging 30.88 disposals and 5.83 clearances across 24 matches in the black and white.
At the end of the 2014 season, Beams sought a move to Brisbane and would see his request granted, with the now-33-year-old having an instant impact to claim best and fairest honours in his first year with the club.
Beams would be named captain of the club for the 2017 season and in his second year as skipper would seek a return to Collingwood. His second stint with the Magpies would be less fruitful, with injuries plaguing Beams' time back in Victoria.
Beams announced his retirement in 2020 after just nine further games with Collingwood over two seasons, with multiple off-field matters also impacting the end of his career.
Now set to offer his services at the local level, Beams will look to help Mulwala defend their title after the Lions claimed the MFL flag with just one loss to their name for the 2023 season.
