Adelaide midfielder Zac Taylor has suffered a "serious knee injury" during training on Wednesday.

Taylor - who was drafted with Pick 44 in the 2021 National Draft - has had a wretched run of injuries since joining the Crows, facing a Lisfranc injury in April last year as well as a concussion earlier this season.

The Calder Cannons product was impressive in the SANFL, averaging 18.2 disposals, 5.7 clearances, 4.7 tackles and 3.7 inside 50s in six outings.

Despite being behind the likes of experienced campaigners Rory Laird, Jordan Dawson and Matt Crouch in the midfield, Adelaide legend Malcolm Blight gave a glowing endorsement of Taylor, likening him to Zak Butters last year.

“The other kid is Taylor,” Blight said on SEN.

“Don't forget you can play small and be tough, just like (Zak) Butters from Port Adelaide.

“I think Taylor has got a real chance."

Taylor's fresh injury concern does put a dampener on a potential debut, although the club extended his time at Adelaide until the end of 2025 last year.
