Port Adelaide have confirmed that Brynn Teakle has undergone surgery to repair his collarbone after his debut match on Saturday ended on the bench.
The 22-year-old was selected by Port Adelaide in the mid-season draft earlier in the month and was awarded a senior selection in an attempt to placate Port's ruck issues, but Teakle's first game was over in the second term of the 23-point win over Sydney after breaking his collarbone.
The club confirmed on Sunday that Teakle had spent the night in hospital and is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.
Port coach Ken Hinkley said that Teakle remained upbeat about his AFL debut, despite the ending.
โHe has got enough spunk about him to say as heโs walking off at halftime โthatโs the best 35 minutes everโ,โ Hinkley said post-game.
โHeโs happy with himself and the fact that heโs playing AFL football.โ
