St Kilda midfielder Brad Crouch has been delisted with the notion that the club will re-rookie him in the Rookie Draft despite having one more year to run on his contract.

The Saints will open a vacancy on their primary list by moving Crouch to rookie status, with it being understood the club's intent to split one of either Pick 7 or 8 to secure two first-round selections in next month's draft.

Crouch was rarely seen in 2024, battling injuries and form to limit him to one outing in the past 12 months.

The 30-year-old initially started his career at Adelaide in 2013 before requesting a trade to the Moorabbin club ahead of the 2021 season.

Crouch will become the 14th player in the AFL to be delisted with the intent to re-rookie, joining the likes of premiership players Jack Gunston and Oleg Markov.

St Kilda currently holds Picks 7, 8, 32 and 47 for the 2024ย AFL Draft, which will take place on November 20-21.

The 2024 Rookie Draft will commence on November 22.

Crouch has played 161 games for both the Crows and Saints.

  1. There are not too many times that I agree with Kane Cornes but the Rookie List is a complete joke!
Surely we need to go back to rookies being someone you want to give a chance as a mature ager who wasn’t drafted but has developed in a secondary league or a kid who wasn’t drafted when they were eligible. Premiership or multiple premiership players are not rookies! I would happily support some sort of seniors spot or list for these experienced players.
