Port Adelaide is likely to be without Connor Rozee for at least 12 weeks, after the Port Adelaide captain suffered a high-grade hamstring tendon injury in Sunday's win against Essendon at Adelaide Oval.

Speaking post-game, Rozee, who was helped by trainers from the ground during the third quarter, said his leg "sort of went numb" and "I couldn't walk on it".

The star midfielder is set to undergo surgery and could be sidelined for up to 15 weeks, according to Port coach Josh Carr.

"Yeah, it's obviously flattening for everyone, in particular Connor and the footy club" Carr said on AFL360.

"He's done a pretty good job of that hamstring, he's torn the ligaments off the bone.

"He'll go in for surgery this week, get it repaired and we're probably looking at a timeline of 12-15 weeks."

Vice-captains Zak Butters and Willem Drew will share the captaincy duties in Rozee's absence.

The Power will also be without Miles Bergman for Sunday's Round 3 home match against West Coast.

Bergman sustained an an ankle injury during the final quarter on Sunday and subsequent scans revealed a sprain to the medial ankle, along with bruising of the heel.

Bergman will be assessed further next week to determine his availability for Port's Round 4 clash against Richmond at the MCG.
