St Kilda's confirmed coaching appointment of Ross Lyon is imminent, with the former Saints and Dockers senior coach holding a third round of talks with club officials this week.
Lyon is seen as the sole candidate in the running to replace departed coach Brett Ratten in a move that would see the highly-rated mentor return to Moorabbin after his departure for Fremantle over a decade ago.
Speaking to 7 News outside of RSEA Park on Wednesday, Lyon confirmed his latest meeting with the club as he and Saints officials worked through the next steps of the process.
“I'm going to meet the board, it's just part of the (process)," Lyon said.
Browne reported on Wednesday night that Lyon is tipped to be "officially unveiled" as St Kilda's new senior coach in the "coming days", however further steps are required before an announcement by the club is made.
“I believe Ross Lyon will be officially unveiled as St Kilda's new coach in coming days,” Browse said.
“St Kilda's position tonight is they're still going through the process and working on it.”
According to The Age, Lyon hasn't faced any 'surprises' across his time in the process, however there are still "hurdles" to overcome following Wednesday's meeting.
The meeting was the third round of discussions Lyon has had with Saints chiefs, having visited president Andrew Bassat's house for close to four hours on Monday before further talks took place on Tuesday.
Should Lyon land the job at St Kilda, he will look to add to his coaching record of 172 wins, 128 losses and 5 draws.
Lyon boasted a win rate of 64.46 per cent during his five years with St Kilda between 20017-2011 before leaving for Fremantle.
He would be sacked by Fremantle in 2019 after recording just nine wins for the year in a campaign that saw the Western Australian side go without finals for a fourth-straight season.
