AFL great Malcolm Blight has proposed four rule changes to improve the AFL product.

The two-time premiership coach believes they would help speed up the game and make it more free-flowing.

β€œI reckon there’s four things you can try. I reckon those four things would hurry the game up and make it a lot better,” Blight toldΒ SEN’s Whateley.

β€œI watched the 1993 Essendon versus Geelong game when Gary Ablett Snr kicked 14 and Paul Salmon kicked 10 the other day.

β€œIf you want to see what footy was really like, have a look at that game, it was unbelievable football; open, fast and goals.”

Blights proposed rule changes to improve AFL

  1. Last touch out of bounds.
  2. Kick length for a mark goes to 20m.
  3. Any backwards kick is play on.
  4. Fewer rotations.
