The manager of young Docker Liam Henry has confirmed his client will be a Fremantle player in 2023 barring any surprising trade twist in the coming weeks.
Henry, who is contracted to the Cockburn club for next season, has been named among several Dockers players who have been tied to the exit at Fremantle as the club braces for an exodus of senior names.
Griffin Logue (North Melbourne), Blake Acres (Carlton) and Darcy Tucker (North Melbourne) have all submitted trade requests, which have been granted by the Dockers, to land with Victorian clubs this off-season.
Fringe ruckman Lloyd Meek is also seen likely to find a new home for 2023, while Rory Lobb remains a chance to join the Bulldogs despite his own trade request being denied by the Dockers.
While Henry hasn't been linked with any rival clubs directly, the former Pick 9 has gained external interest given his place on the periphery of Justin Longmuir's side.
The Claremont product played seven games in 2022, often placed among the emergencies and left to ply his trade with Peel Thunder in the WAFL.
Henry's position did pique the interest of some clubs, but his manager Colin Young has confirmed the Dockers forward flanker will remain in purple next season.
"Yes, he will be. Unless something pops up that I don't know about in the next 10 days," Young told AFL Trade Radio when asked if Henry would be at Fremantle next season.
"He was a top 10 pick and I think he played seven or eight games this season so clubs doing their job and due diligence make the call and say: 'Is he out of contract? Would he consider a trade?'
"Then obviously he's under contract, so that's a call Fremantle would have to make if they actually want to trade him.
"He should be at Fremantle next year."
Henry has played 27 games for Fremantle since making his debut in 2020, booting 12 goals from an average of 8.89 disposals.
The 21-year-old was utilised on the wing this year, a position Henry is likely to hold for next season given the pending departure of Acres.
But the potential arrival of rumoured Dockers target Jeremy Sharp from the Suns could impact Henry's chances of holding his spot at AFL level, another factor that might raise the attention of rival clubs in the final year of his contract.
"He was advised he'd be playing wing next year with Blake leaving," Young said.
"But there has been some suggestion through the media as well that Jeremy Sharp might leave the Gold Coast and head for Fremantle.
"If that's the case, I think Jeremy plays on the wing as well, so that'll be interesting. We'll wait and see what happens there."
