Former Tigers great Matthew Richardson has re-drafted the top 10 picks of the 2001 AFL Super Draft on Sportsday.
Richo re-drafted the the 2000 AFL Draft last week, headlined by Nick Riewoldt and Shaun Burgoyne.
The 2001 Draft is arguably the most stacked draft we've ever seen, including the likes of Luke Hodge, Gary Ablett, Chris Judd, Sam Mitchell, Dane Swan, Jimmy Bartel, Steve Johnson and Nick Dal Santo.
Topping Richardson's re-draft is Ablett, who is widely regarded as the best player of the modern era. The son of a gun is a two-time premiership player, two-time Brownlow medallist, five-time MVP and eight-time All Australian.
βHeβs clearly the number one pick in that draft. He was a father-son selection, but some people have him in the conversation as the greatest player of all-time so heβs the number one pick," Richardson said.
Rounding out Richardson's top three is Judd and Hodge, but he said you could essentially throw a blanket over his first seven picks.
Other notable players taken in the 2001 Draft were Luke Ball, Leigh Montagna, Aaron Sandilands, Ben Rutten, Matthew Boyd, Andrew Welsh, Jarrad Waite, Campbell Brown, Ashley Sampi, Jason Gram, Quinten Lynch, Andrew Carrazzo and David Hale.
