Mature-aged Port Adelaide rookie Brett Eddy is leading the race for one of the last two spots on the senior list.
The 27-year-old was recruited by the Power last year as a potential replacement for the delisted Jay Schultz. Eddy won the SANFL goalkicking last season with 74 goals for South Adelaide.
Port still have two spots remaining on their 40-man list and Football Manager Chris Davies told The Adelaide Advertiser Eddy will soon have the chance to earn one.

“He’s been brought to the club after strong performances at SANFL level and his challenge will be to reproduce some of that form at a step higher,” Davies said.
“We’ll see that during the family day on Friday night and throughout the pre-season cup.
“As with the guys coming in from outside of your list, they have got to do a decent amount of physical work to get up to the capability of players who have been on an AFL list for a period of time.
“Brett’s worked hard throughout the pre-season to put himself in a spot now where the next month, from the (internal trial) on Friday night to the JLT Series, will be a good opportunity for him to see where he’s at."
Each rookie will have a chance to impress during an internal trial game this coming Friday. Port then play their opening JLT Community Series game against St Kilda on February 23.
The Power have six other rookies vying for the two positions on the list, including Eddy's former teammate Emmanuel Irra, Sturt premiership player Jarrod Lienert, 203cm ruckman Peter Ladhams, Will Snelling, Dan Houston and Cameron Hewett.
