Melbourne recruit Steven May will front his teammates on Tuesday after he was caught drinking at a Richmond pub on Sunday afternoon.
In doing so, May broke the Demons' "no-drinking" policy for injured players, and will now apologise to teammates for his actions.
Melbourne vice-captain Max Gawn spoke about the incident on RSN927 on Tuesday morning, and said the leadership group would meet to determine whether or not May would face further punishment.
"We will definitely talk about it (as a leadership group). Not everything is a black and white decision, so there's going to be elements to every story you've got to process, and I'm presuming this will be one," Gawn said.
"Steven is on the long-term injury list. He's more than six to seven weeks away, he's not actually running at the moment โฆ without getting permission (to drink alcohol) it's a blanket rule.
"Any case will get discussed and is there a punishment at all? Is there more stuff going on in his life? They're all elements we'll talk about, and unfortunately it's just really early in the situation with Steven."
May has had a tough start to the 2019 season, playing just one game against Geelong in round two, injuring his groin in the process.
The former Gold Coast skipper reported to Melbourne's pre-season training in poor condition, and was also suspended for round one after an incident in the final match of the JLT Community Series.
