Commentator Bruce McAvaney has named Tigers star Dustin Martin as the greatest to ever wear the yellow and black.

Speaking in the build up to Richmond's clash with Geelong on Channel 7, the veteran game caller said the two-time Norm Smith medalist was the best he's seen play for the Tigers.

โ€œI think itโ€™s (Kevin) Bartlett, and itโ€™s (Royce) Hart and itโ€™s Dustin Martin (as Richmondโ€™s best three),โ€ he said.

โ€œI didnโ€™t see Jack Dyer or Jack Titus so itโ€™s so difficult, but to me Dustin Martin is Richmondโ€™s finest player.

โ€œHeโ€™s the best player I have called in a Richmond jumper.

โ€œI do (think heโ€™s the greatest Tiger of all time). Two Norm Smithโ€™s, a Brownlow Medal, 240-odd games, I think heโ€™s the best Tiger of all-time.โ€

Martin won the 2017 Brownlow medal, making him one of six players to do so for the Tigers.
