Melbourne Football Club reportedly banned four players from selection for the side's loss to Sydney at the MCG on Friday night following a drinking session last week.

The Herald Sun reports Jay Kennedy-Harris, Ben Kennedy, Dean Kent and Jake Spencer were all told they would be unavailable for selection for the match, despite the club's long injury list.

All four played for Casey in the VFL on Saturday, with three of the players named in the best in Casey's 45-point loss to Port Melbourne.

Kennedy finished with 29 disposals, Kennedy-Harris with 27 and a goal, while Kent had 23 disposals and a goal.

Spencer had eight disposals and 37 hitouts.

The quartet were also left off the emergencies list, with Josh Wagner and Mitch White coming into the senior side to replace Jeff Garlett (hamstring) and Christian Salem (hamstring).

The Dees went down to the Swans on Friday night, 11.19 (85) to 7.8 (50).

Melbourne's injury list looks set grow even further following the loss, with co-captain Jack Viney suffering plantar fascia injury in his foot, which could keep him sidelined for an extended period.
