Melbourne have confirmed the signing of basketball talent Kyah Farris-White to a Category B Rookie deal.
Players who have not been registered to an Australian football competition for three or more years are eligible as Category B Rookie signings.
Farris-White has most recently plied his trade on the hardwood, moving across the globe to North America in recent years to pursue a career with the Spalding in hand.
A return to Australia has seen the teenager rekindle his footballing roots, a sport he played longer than his time as a basketballer.
"I actually played football for longer than I played basketball," Farris-White told Melbourne Media.
"Growing up that was my thing. If you look back to primary school – you know when you write your letter to yourself for when you graduate, mine would've said AFL player on it.
"Basketball was a late pick up for me as I got taller."
The 18-year-old will add to the Demons' star-studded ruck stocks of Max Gawn and Brodie Grundy, with the 206cm-tall teenager joining the club's list from 2023.
While still early into his development as a potential AFL ruck of the future, Farris-White will look to fill a void left by departed young gun Luke Jackson in the years ahead.
Farris-White joins Lachue Hunter, Josh Schache and Grundy in also joining the Demons ahead of next season.
