Melbourne captain Nathan Jones says he would be for the AFL introducing a red card send-off rule, on the back of the Andrew Gaff incident on Sunday.

Speaking on SEN, Jones said โ€œIโ€™m not against it. They donโ€™t happen too often, itโ€™s not like you see that every day like the 1980โ€™s, but in particular for an incident like that I think itโ€™s warranted."

Jones highlighted how one incident can lead to others as ramifications.

โ€œYou donโ€™t want all-in brawls and fights off the back of an issue like that so Iโ€™m for it.โ€

Jones said his teammate and brother of Andrew, Angus Brayshaw was "a little bit rattled" by the situation.

"It's definitely something we don't want to see too often," Jones said.
