Melbourne have confirmed vice-captain Jack Viney has re-signed with the Demons, inking a three-year extension.
Already locked to the club for the next 12 months, Viney and the Demons have acted to extend their partnership until the end of 2028.
The deal comes after it was revealed that North Melbourne had shown an interest in luring Viney to Arden Street in a bid to add some leadership to their emerging squad.
Demons coach Simon Goodwin confirmed Viney's future remains in the red and blue, and would likely be extended, when speaking to media on Tuesday.
The club confirmed Viney's contract extension just hours later, with Viney's three-year bumper deal set to take him to a total of 16 seasons with the club.
"I'm a Demon for life โ I always have been, and always will be," Viney said.
"I love my teammates, my coaches, the staff and the passionate Dees fans. I have created some incredibly special memories and relationships over the past decade, and I couldn't see myself wearing anything but the red and blue.
"I am committed to the journey we're on, and want nothing more than to bring further success to the Melbourne faithful."
Viney's re-signing comes just days after captain Max Gawn also re-signed with the Demons until the end of the 2027 season.
Viney, who joined Melbourne as a father-son selection in 2012 to follow in the footsteps of club great Todd Viney, has played 218 games for the club.
He won Melbourne's 2016 best and fairest award and was named co-captain for three seasons before handing the reins to Gawn ahead of the 2020 season.
The hard-nosed midfielder was a key piece in the club's drought-breaking 2021 premiership victory.
