Melbourne defender Jake Lever has inked a new three-year deal with the Demons, keeping him in the red and blue until the end of the 2024 season.

The 24-year-old crossed to Melbourne from Adelaide ahead of the 2018 season and has played 36 of his 92 career games with the Demons in a formidable role in the club's defensive structure.

Demons list manager Tim Lamb stated his excitement to see Lever enter his prime alongside partner-in-crime Steven May.

“Jake Lever and Steven May are forming a great partnership down back, so to keep those two together is an exciting prospect for the club,” Lamb told Melbourne Media.

“Jake has played 92 games to date, so we think he’s about to enter the prime of his career and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can produce over the next three seasons.

“Jake is an incredibly determined person and he wants this club to be successful, so it’s a great show of faith from him – we’re really happy with how the group is progressing.”

The Demons will face Fremantle at the MCG on Saturday, March 20 to kick-start their 2021 campaign.
