Melbourne superstar Clayton Oliver is set to face court early next year after driving with a suspended license.
Oliver has not been permitted to drive since he suffered a medical episode in October, with the 26-year-old hospitalised at the time after having a seizure.
The Melbourne midfielder has since had his license suspended on medical grounds, however it hasn't stopped Oliver from driving, with police charging the footballer after he was caught behind the wheel.
โThe Demons midfielder was banned from driving after he suffered a seizure but he was caught behind the wheel,"ย 7 Newsย reporter Mitch Cleary revealed on Friday.
"The 26-year-old refusing to abide by doctor's orders after his hospital stint in October, and now has a date at the Melbourne Magistrates Court in early January."
Melbourne provided a statement in relation to the matter surrounding Oliver's court date, confirming his suspended license relates to his seizure from earlier this year.
"Clayton advised the club immediately following an incident where Victoria Police stopped him for driving while his license was suspended on medical grounds," a statement read, viaย 7 News.ย
"This was in relation to the time he spent in the hospital following a seizure."
Oliver has endured a difficult off-season since the cessation of the Demons' finals run, having been put on notice by Melbourne for his behavioural standards.
Oliver's name was also floated in trade discussions during the recent player movement period before Melbourne declared they would not be trading the four-time best and fairest winner.
Tied to a multi-million dollar deal with the Demons, Oliver is contracted at Melbourne for a further seven seasons.
