Melbourne's Mitch Hannan was involved in a rather unfortunate incident at training on Tuesday, with the draftee losing his two front teeth in a training drill.

Hannan copped an elbow from teammate Pat McKenna in a tackling drill, partially knocking out his two front teeth.

Training stopped for several minutes, as players and coaches searched, without any success, for his teeth.

"His two front teeth – half of them are gone so he should've been wearing a mouthguard so there's a tip," Demon Christian Petracca said post training.

"The number one rule, especially in juniors, was no mouthguard, no play.

"It wasn't a high intensity drill and it was up to him whether he wore a mouthguard and he obviously paid the consequences."

Hannan was selected by the Demons with pick No.46 in last year's draft.
