Melbourne defender Sam Frost has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2019 season.

Frost, 24, told the club's website he received interest from rival clubs, but never really entertained leaving the Dees.

“There was interest [from other clubs] and I think it crosses your mind and you think ‘what if’ a little bit, but deep down, I just couldn’t picture myself leaving Melbourne to be honest,” Frost said.

“I’m more of a gut feel [person] more than anything else and there was no way I could’ve gone.

“I left the majority of it up to my manager and the club.

“It took them a while to tease out the finer details of it all, but in the end, I was just really happy to get it done, and both parties are happy with the result."

Frost played 21 games with Greater Western Sydney after being recruited with pick No.1 in the 2012 rookie draft, before joining the Demons at the end of 2014, where he has played 35 games.

He played 16 games this season, averaging 13.5 disposals, 3.8 marks, 3.7 rebound 50s and 2.5 tackles.
