Essendon and Adelaide fans might have difficulty in entering tonight's game at Marvel Stadium following a worldwide Windows outage.

It is understood that fans who have mobile tickets might be hindered due to the disruption, which has reportedly affected Windows PCs globally.

Essendon had alerted its members of the current situation, saying:

  • All physical tickets, corporate tickets and physical membership cards are working.
  • The mobile membership care feature on the club app is NOT WORKING, impacting Essendon, Adelaide, AFL and Medallion club members

AFL spokesperson Jay Allen confirmed tonight's match would go ahead, stating:

"Tonights match will go ahead as scheduled.

"Anyone with a physical or downloaded PDF ticket, a ticket in their digital wallet or a physical Essendon or AFL membership card is unaffected and will scan in as normal.

"Anyone with a digital ticket or membership to tonights game that has not been downloaded will receive an email with directions.

Guardian Australia had reported that the outage may be a software update issue with Crowdstrike but no confirmation has yet been made by Microsoft.

Major banks and news outlets are among the services being affected by the outage as well as systems including Gmail, Amazon and Australia Post.

The Federal Government is launching a response to the catastrophic IT failure which has seen users report seeing the Blue Screen of Death error messages.

More to come.
