GWS are hopeful Tom Green will be good to go come Saturday's matchup with Essendon, while cross-town rivals Sydney won't be taking a risk with veteran onballer Luke Parker.
Green was subbed out of last week's loss to the Swans after having his ankle landed on, with the star midfielder undergoing scans that have since cleared the Giants bull of a significant setback.
The club has stated week-long that Green remains in the selection mix for Saturday's trip down to Victoria, with coach Adam Kingsley expecting Green to face the Bombers.
While limited, Green was able to get through Thursday's main session.
"I expect he will (play)," Kingsley told reporters.
"He had a light run today and got through by my assessment. We'll see how he pulls up this afternoon and tomorrow morning."
The Giants are also set to regain former captain Stephen Coniglio, who has been absent with a knee injury, while fringe forward Conor Stone could be named as the replacement for suspended forward Callum Brown.
Stone has kicked 14 goals in five games at VFL level for GWS and could come back into the Giants' senior side for his first game at the top level since Round 4 last year.
Elsewhere, Sydney won't recall the aforementioned Parker despite his return to form through the VFL.
Parker is yet to play under John Longmire this season after breaking his arm in the pre-season, with the hard-nosed ball-winner kept to the reserves since being cleared for a return.
The 31-year-old has averaged 35.5 disposals and five tackles per game across his past two stints for the Swans' reserves but is yet to be recalled by Longmire amid a hot run of form for Sydney's midfield pack.
According toย 7 News'ย Ryan Daniels, Parker's stint at the lower level will continue, as the three-time best and fairest winner is tipped to miss Friday's match against Fremantle in Perth.

Sydney's VFL side is scheduled to face North Melbourne at Arden Street on Saturday.
The Swans are expected to name Aaron Francis in place of the injured Tom McCartin (concussion), while John Longmire will weigh up adding Peter Ladhams to his side to support Brodie Grundy against the Dockers' ruck force.
Sydney will name their 23-man squad at 6:20pm (AEST) on Thursday.
