Port Adelaide are facing a number of looming selection calls ahead of their hosting duties of the Western Bulldogs this weekend.

The Power have several players needing to prove their fitness at training in the build-up to Saturday's clash at Adelaide Oval, with forward Todd Marshall headlining the crop of players seen as no certainty to suit up against the Dogs.

A hamstring concern saw the club take a cautious approach and rule Marshall out of Sunday's win over St Kilda midway through the contest, with the Power attacker reporting tightness in his thigh for the first time in his career.

The 25-year-old is expected to take to the field in Round 17, however still needs to get through training unscathed in the coming days.

"Todd should be okay, we'll get through training today. Hopefully he'll be available," coach Ken Hinkley confirmed to media on Wednesday.

"We took him out of the game last week just with some hamstring tightness. It was nothing serious. We got some evidence back to suggest he is good."

Fellow forward Willie Rioli is in line to play his first game since Round 11 after battling calf and illness setbacks.

Rioli could return through the SANFL given his extended layoff, with the small forward also a test.

"If he gets through the rest of the week and does what he needs to do he'll be available for selection, whatever level that is," Hinkley said.

"He has missed a lot of footy. We have to be a bit careful about that. Whether he plays AFL or SANFL, we will make that decision later in the week.

"We're going to hold our decision-making process until we see what he can get through the rest of the week."

Wingman Jase Burgoyne (hamstring), defender Lachie Jones (knee) and youngster Kyle Marshall (concussion) are also listed as tests.

Defender Esava Ratugolea will miss his second game with a hamstring injury of his own after suffering the setback at training last Thursday.

Hinkley didn't recall a key defender in Ratugolea's place for their meeting with the Saints, but could look to add height to his rearguard given the Dogs' tall forward contingent.

"He's probably going to miss this week," Hinkley said of Ratugolea.

"We won't do anything silly with that. We will make sure we manage it the right way.

"If there was an ideal week to have three talls it'd be this week with the way the Bulldogs are. We look forward to those decisions when we have to make them."

The Power host the Western Bulldogs on Saturday at 1:45pm (AEST).
