Collingwood will have first-string ruckman Brodie Grundy available for selection for the first time since Round 6, with the two-time Copeland Trophy winner overcoming a knee injury sustained 13 weeks ago against Essendon.

Grundy's return may not come as a certainty however, with Craig McRae seeing breakout tall Darcy Cameron enjoy a stellar campaign in sharing the ruck workload with Mason Cox in recent weeks.

The pair have played a pivotal part in the Magpies' eight-game winning run, which could be extended this weekend in the club's second showing against the Bombers.

Collingwood will also have Isaac Quaynor available for selection, with the gun back flanker exiting COVID protocols on Wednesday after missing his side's win over Adelaide in Round 18.

Star midfielder Taylor Adams is no certainty to play as he continues to nurse a head knock sustained against North Melbourne in Round 17, with the club needing to further assess the veteran onballer.

Jordan De Goey won't be fit in time for Sunday's clash with Essendon, ruling him out for a third-straight week as he looks to build his fitness in his rehabilitation from a quad issue.

Defender Jack Madgen (thumb) could join De Goey and uncapped midfielder Harvey Harrison in potentially being available for selection next week.

Ruckman Aiden Begg will return through the VFL next week after the side's bye, having overcome a thumb injury.

Collingwood will confirm their 26-man squad to face Essendon at 6:20pm (AEST) on Thursday, with their extended interchange to be cut on Friday evening at 5:00pm (AEST).
