Geelong’s Steven Motlop says that he is extremely remorseful and embarrassed with his behaviour last week that resulted in a club imposed ban for his side’s clash with Fremantle over the weekend.

Motlop was suspended by the club for drinking alcohol at a local football match in Colac on Good Friday.

Geelong went down to the Dockers by 44 points on Sunday afternoon, and Motlop said that it was difficult to sit on the sidelines and watch his team get beaten.

“I couldn’t be out there and it was extremely hard to watch.” The Geelong youngster said.

“We have expectations at this footy club that I didn’t meet and I’m extremely embarrassed and I let my teammates down.

"It's something I don't want to be known for; someone that's doing something like this.”

Motlop said he couldn’t wait to play this weekend and he owed it to his teammates to perform well against the Gold Coast Suns.

“My teammates have been really supportive…and I’m really looking forward to getting back onto the park hopefully this week and repay them because I’m very disappointed.”

He said that despite the Cats poor start to the year he is positive his side can turn it around.

"(Gold Coast are) a great young side. We haven't had the best start to the year, but we're still confident and I'm confident in my teammates and this club as well.”
