GWS ruckman Shane Mumford allegedly sledged Lance Franklin about his mental health during the Giants win over the Swans on Saturday afternoon, once again bringing to light the issue of mental health in sport and what is off limits on the sporting field.
Mumford allegedly said to Franklin, it is "good to see you're not on holidays this year", making reference to the Sydney star's leave of absence during the finals series last year as he dealt with mental health issues.
The Herald Sun reports that Mumford has admitted to the Giants that he sledged Franklin with words to that effect during the match.
However, it is understood that the AFL is unlikely to sanction Mumford, with no official complaint being lodged by the Swans.
Neither Sydney nor the Giants have made a comment regarding the incident.
