Former Bulldogs captain Bob Murphy has spoken on his arrival at Fremantle after taking on the duties of head of football operations for the Dockers.
The role will see the 312-gamer overlook the club's AFL and AFLW programs throughout the course of the next 12 months, with the Dockers' women's side currently preparing for their upcoming campaign in January.
Fremantle's men's side amassed a promising 2021 season with an 11th placed finish, and have since rung the changes to their coaching department, with Murphy headlining several switches in their revamp for next year.
Having recorded a stellar career at Whitten Oval and taking on a mentorship with the Bulldogs' AFLW side following his retirement, Murphy will add an unparalleled pedigree to the Dockers for the near future.
Speaking to media on Saturday, Murphy stated his excitement to begin his tenure with the Dockers, with preparations for the upcoming AFLW season at the forefront of his mind.
"I can’t wait for the AFLW season to get started. They are well entrenched and I am the new kid in town," Murphy said, via the club's Twitter.
"I love it in Perth, it’s a bit of a head spin trying to organise houses and schools, but people have been really welcoming and I can’t wait to get stuck into it.
"I’m coming into a club that is doing a lot of things right. It’s up to me to absorb and to learn.
"I’m really grateful to be given a chance to be welcomed into this proud football Club. It’s a role that is a conduit between lots of different departments.
"Our family had an appetite for a big adventure and going to the other side of the country certainly ticks that box. There’s a certain connection that I feel to Fremantle, they are somewhat the underdogs and the outsiders."
The Dockers' AFLW side managed another strong season rewarded with a finals finish in 2021, recording six wins from their nine matches for the year.
Fremantle confirmed their AFLW coaching structure earlier this month, with former AFL Dockers players Daniel Haines and Jay van Berlo joining Trent Cooper's ranks for 2022.
