North Melbourne Kangaroos icon Brent Harvey hasn't given up hope on returning back to the field after retiring last season.
After hanging up the boots for the Kangaroos, the 45-year-old signed with North Heidelberg in the Northern League in 2017 but unfortunately suffered a broken leg in the opening round last season and subsequently retired.
Set to turn 46 in three months, Harvey has revealed that he hasn't given up hope on returning to the field despite the injury.
The VFL/AFL games record-holder sat on the sidelines for all but one-quarter last season and is eager to play more if the opportunity arises.
“I'm not 100 percent sure how that (a return) all looks at the minute," Harvey said via The Herald Sun.
"Having 12 months off of footy has made me realise how much I do love the game.
“I do have a saying I like to go by which is ‘never say never' so we might stick with that.
"I know there'll be opportunities for me to play games here and there so we'll see what happens.”
During his time in the AFL, Harvey surpassed Michael Tuck as the game's record-holder after 21 seasons with the North Melbourne Kangaroos (1996-2016).
This saw him become a legend of the club, winning one premiership in 1999
He also holds personal honours such as becoming a four-time All-Australian, five-time Syd Barker Medal winner, AFL Hall of Fame member in 2022, E.J. Whitten Medal winner in 1999 and being named in the Kangaroos Team of the Century.
