Josh Schache has opened up on his frustration with the Western Bulldogs which led him out the doors of the Kennel last year, speaking openly in the new Stan Sport documentary Show Me the Money II.ย
Schache, who was traded to Melbourne in 2022's trade period, spoke in the new series about his feelings towards the Dogs, believing that the club, and senior coach Luke Beveridge, didn't give him a proper chance.
The 25-year-old played seven games last season, bringing his career tally to 72, as he spent another season falling in and out of the Dogs' senior side.
Footage from the show details an interaction between the tall forward and his manager, David Trotter, where Schache admitted that he felt the club was prioritising young draftee Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.
โI, just at the moment, looking at where I am, with the Dogs, I just can't see myself getting past those guys they are prioritising at the moment,โ Schache said, viaย The Age.ย
"They don't give me a proper chance, either. They bring me in for a couple of weeks, then I have an off game โ bang, straight out. They don't stick with me
โI don't have the confidence with them.
โ...Jamarra had five touches, then the week before as well, he didn't have any touches [in the VFL], then they brought him in, and I have kicked a fair few goals in those two weeks and played well. And he [Beveridge] even had to bring me in and justify why they brought him in. That is just something that is going to keep happening."
Prior to his trade to the Demons, Schache experienced a good run of form in the VFL, kicking 17 goals in three games. As discussed in Stan's new series, the 25-year-old believes he can earn more senior game time at Melbourne, earning praise over his work so far this pre-season.
The versatile tall will be in the frame to face his former side as early as Round 1 when the Dogs and Demons go head-to-head at the MCG on Saturday, March 18.
Show Me the Money IIย debuts on Thursday, February 23 on Stan.
