Richmond star Noah Balta has been charged with assault following an alleged incident that led to another man being taken to hospital.
Balta was charged in late December and is set to face court later this month following a matter in New South Wales.
The Tigers released a statement on Wednesday confirming Balta had been charged.
"The Richmond Football Club can confirm that AFL player Noah Balta has been charged with assault after an incident on the 30th December, 2024," the club statement read.
"As the matter is now before the courts the club can make noย furtherย comment.ย
"The club has made the AFL aware of the incident."
Details fromย 7 Newsย have revealed another man involved in the alleged Mulwala incident was taken to hospital with lacerations to his head.
Balta, who is expected to face court on January 30, is said to have taken himself to the police on Tuesday and has since been given conditional bail.
The charge against Balta comes in the middle of Richmond's pre-season training program, with players expected to return to Punt Road in the coming weeks to continue their 2025 preparations.
Balta played 19 games in yellow and black in 2024 and signed a long-term deal with the Tigers last year, which will see his services tied to the club until the end of 2032.
