Former Adelaide coach Don Pyke has emerged as a candidate for the vacant Collingwood coaching job.
The Herald Sun's Jon Anderson revealed Pyke who left the Crows at the end of 2019 and has been John Longmire's right-hand man at Sydney for the past two years is being seriously considered by the Magpies as Nathan Buckley's replacement.
The two-time West Coast premiership player had a winning percentage of 60.8 percent in four seasons at the Crows and took the club to the Grand Final in 2017.
However, his time at the Crows is remembered for the tumultuous pre-season camp in 2018 when players were blindfolded and forced to listen to the Richmond theme song on repeat in an attempt to strengthen their resolve.
Pyke's return to the Swans where he was an assistant before moving to the Crows has received glowing endorsements for fast-tracking the development of the Swans young playing group and turning them into serious finals contenders.
Pyke's attacking brand of football will also appeal to the Magpies who have failed to fire offensively for the past three years since their Grand Final appearance in 2018.
In 2017, the Crows averaged 107.8 points per game under Pyke's attacking philosophy.
The question remains whether the Magpies will go for an experienced coach like Pyke or Ross Lyon or whether they will target a younger prospect such as Sam Mitchell.
