WAFL club Swan Districts have emerged as a potential landing spot for axed AFL player Tarryn Thomas, who is said to have been offered a two-week trial with the state league side.
Thomas is still on the lookout for a club after being permitted to return to football by the AFL, with the 24-year-old ineligible to be listed by an AFL-affiliated side.
He also won't be able to nominate for this year's Mid-Season Draft, while a decision on his prospects to play in the 2026 AFL season are yet to be decided on.
Thomas canvassed interest from VFL clubs after his return to football was given the green light, however all standalone sides have turned their back on signing the troubled ex-North Melbourne midfielder.
The Northern Bullants weighed up a move for Thomas only for the club's board to deny any chance of signing him, leaving Thomas to feature at the local level should he wish to continue his career in Victoria.
Western Australia has since come calling, with Swan Districts offering Thomas a two-week training stint to prove himself while the club weighs up whether to secure his services, per The West Australian.
Thomas' training block with the Swans is expected to commence on Tuesday.
The Swans are coming off a WAFL campaign that saw them finish third on the ladder, recording 11 wins and a draw from 18 games. They would lose to both grand finalists Peel Thunder and East Perth to end their season.
The club has signed former West Coast midfielder Zane Trew and ex-Fremantle and Gold Coast player Connor Blakely for the 2025 season, while Sandover Medal winner Nik Rokahr and new Essendon recruit Tom Edwards have departed.
Thomas was cut from the Kangaroos a year ago following serious behavioural issues with women, with the AFL handing the onballer an 18-game suspension.
He has since completed a comprehensive education and behavioural change program, which has aided his path back to football.
Thomas played 69 games for North Melbourne across five years at Arden Street.
