Jack Ziebell has revealed he will be converted into a half back in 2021 to provide the Kangaroos with experience in defence.
The North skipper has spent all of his career in midfield or in attack, but has spent the offseason training with the backline under new coach David Noble.
The 29-year-old said that he is excited by the challenge and has taken inspiration from the likes of Luke Hodge and Matthew Boyd who made the transition into defence in the latter part of their careers.
“I’ve got some great role models in the past doing the same thing in Luke Hodge and Matty Boyd and guys like this from different clubs who can go down there and have an impact," Ziebell told 7 News Melbourne and reported by Ben Waterworth from Fox Sports.
“I’ve always said, whether it be midfield, forward or back, I’ll play wherever the coach wants me to play.”
An injury-ravaged 2020 held Ziebell to eight games, which was the first time in his career that he played under 10 games.
Ziebell the Roos will hope for an upturn in results in 2021 and exceed the three games they won in 2020.
