Norm Smith medallist Isaac Smith has been charged by the Match Review Officer for striking Suns youngster Elijah Hollands during Geelong's shock loss to Gold Coast on Sunday.
Smith, 34, caught the eye of the MRO, Michael Christian, for his final quarter strike of Hollands, a charge that has been graded as intentional and low impact, with contact made to the 20-year-old's body.
The former Hawk was handed a $3000 fine, but can work the financial penalty back to $2000 should he enter an early guilty plea.
Smith will be free to face his old side on Easter Monday, a now must-win clash for the 0-3 Cats.
While the charge remains the first for Smith this season, the conduit has form in this area, having been fined for striking Adelaide's Lachlan Murphy during Geelong's Round 11 fixture against the Crows last season.
Smith was also issued a fine by Christian in 2021 after being charged with misconduct during a clash against Hawthorn during his first season at the Cattery.
