North Melbourne have announced that three young Roos, Kyron Hayden, Matt McGuinness and Patrick Walker, will not be offered contracts for 2023.
Hayden has made 17 appearances for the Kangaroos since his debut in 2019, originally picked up with pick 62 in the 2017 national draft. The 23-year-old defender managed just five games this season, averaging 10.4 disposals and 3.8 marks per game.
The duo of McGuinness and Walker depart Arden Street without a senior appearance, both featuring at VFL level 17 times in 2022.
McGuinness, a versatile tall, was picked up in 2019 as a Next Gen Academy member, while Walker was drafted with pick two in the 2020 rookie draft.
North Melbourne's general manager of Football Talent Brady Rawlings thanked the trio for their time at the club.
“Kyron came to North Melbourne as a teenager from Western Australia and he settled into the culture of the club really quickly,” Rawlings said.
“Unfortunately he had some bad luck with injuries was unable to lock down a place in the senior side.
“Our Tassie boys Matty and Pat also had a bit of bad fortune with injuries but they both had solid seasons in the VFL this year.
“All three boys left an imprint on the footy club and we thank them for their professionalism and hard work and wish them the best in their future endeavours.”
