North Melbourne have confirmed new senior coach Alastair Clarkson will begin his tenure at Arden Street as scheduled despite the ongoing investigation into the allegations of his time at Hawthorn.

Following the allegations against Clarkson, Brisbane Lions senior coach Chris Fagan and other members of Hawthorn's football department from 2008-2016, the four-time premiership coach flagged he would not begin his duties with the Roos in order to help with the AFL's investigation.

Clarkson was scheduled to begin his tenure on November 1, with the 54-year-old now confirmed to begin his position with the Roos as scheduled following the release of the terms of reference for the independent investigation.

In a statement released by North Melbourne on Wednesday, president Sonja Hood confirmed Clarkson would begin his tenure from next Tuesday.

“We support the process to provide a voice for all parties. That includes former Hawthorn players and their families, as well as former coaches and staff, including Alastair,” Dr Hood said.

“The Board came to its decision after consulting with a range of stakeholders.”

Brisbane have already confirmed Fagan has been cleared to return to his coaching duties after the Lions senior coach stood aside from his post shortly after the allegations against him surfaced.

The findings of the independent investigation are expected to be made public in December.
