North Melbourne have confirmed top draft selection Harry Sheezel will debut for the Kangaroos this weekend when they face West Coast at Marvel Stadium.
Sheezel joined the Roos as the third overall selection at last year's National Draft after a dominant 2022 season with the Sandringham Dragons and Vic Metro.
The talented teenager booted 36 goals for the Dragons, including a haul of six from his 28-disposal performance against Tasmania early in the year.
Working in tandem with fellow top 10 picks Will Ashcroft and Cameron Mackenzie, Sheezel played a significant role in helping claim the 2022 NAB League premiership.
Since joining the Roos alongside inside midfielder George Wardlaw, who was selected one spot after Sheezel in the draft order, the small forward has impressed his new teammates and coaches across the pre-season.
On Tuesday evening the Kangaroos confirmed Sheezel's efforts in recent months have been rewarded, with the 185cm livewire set to make AFL debut against the Eagles.
New senior coach Alastair Clarkson confirmed Sheezel's inclusion in front of the playing group during a team meeting.
Saturday's match against West Coast will be Clarkson's first in charge of North Melbourne after being appointed in the wake of the club's disappointing 2022 campaign.
The Roos will confirm the remainder of their lineup to face the Eagles at 6:20pm (AEDT) on Thursday night.
North Melbourne will host West Coast at Marvel Stadium on Saturday, March 18 at 1:45pm to commence their 2023 campaign.
