North Melbourne will attempt to put an end to its horror run at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, with their winless record dating back to 2014.

Since the introduction of South Australia's spectacular venue over a decade ago, the Kangaroos have yet to win a game at the prized ground in 10 starts, including eight against the Crows.

The closest they have got was nine points in Round 22, 2018.

And despite reeling off an impressive 59-point win over Melbourne last week, North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson is well aware of the challenge that awaits his club.

"It's probably because we haven't been great as a footy club, to be fair," Clarkson said.

"It's a fair bit to do with that over the journey, but it's a difficult place for any team to play.

"The dimensions of the ground are a little bit different to the Melbourne grounds and that makes it a little bit more difficult.

"The Adelaide sides play that ground particularly well - and 50,000 screaming Crows fans doesn't help too much."

The Crows have been faultless so far in 2025, piling on 46 goals in the opening fortnight of the season, averaging 148 points week to week.

Clarkson conceded that although his men have also been ticking over the scoreboard in the first two weeks, a shootout isn't ideal in the modern game.

"Given what we've seen over the first two weeks, a shootout is what Adelaide wants," Clarkson said.

"We've been able to score pretty well ourselves, so we're not afraid of a shootout.

"But the way that I've coached all along is that if it is a shootout, then we might win some and might lose some.

"Usually, if you've got greater control over the defensive side of the game, you've got greater control over manipulating what the result is."

Clarkson will feature in his 600th AFL/VFL match (562 premiership games, 35 pre-season matches and two international games) as a player or coach when he leads North against Adelaide.
