North Melbourne veteran Shaun Higgins is believed to have played his final match in the blue and white, withย SENย reporter Sam Edmund stating the midfielder "is almost certainly going".

Higgins remains contracted with the Kangaroos for 2021, but Edmund suggests the ย 32-year-old will depart Arden Street in the upcoming trade window as he seeks to end his career with a finals contender.

โ€œ(Higgins) is almost certainly going. It would take a pretty big about-face for him to stay,โ€ Edmund told AFL Nation.

โ€œBasically, heโ€™s had enough. He stayed loyal last year alongside Todd Goldstein when the Cats launched that raid on Arden Street and they came away empty handed.

โ€œHiggins signed a one-year extension at North until the end of 2021, but heโ€™s always said that if the club chose to rebuild and move on senior players, heโ€™d be happy with that and the Cats carrot is still very much there for him.

โ€œI think behind the scenes as well guys heโ€™s not as happy as he was 12 months ago and 24 months ago when he won his second straight best and fairest.

โ€œHe won those best and fairests playing midfield, but heโ€™s spent a lot of this year not playing midfield.โ€
