Geelong football boss Simon Lloyd is said to be strongly in the sights of North Melbourne as the Roos continue to work through their new-look hierarchy.
Following an off-season where Alastair Clarkson was appointed to the senior coaching position in place of the sacked David Noble, the Roos are continuing their search for a new chief executive.
Ben Amarfio departed his post at Arden Street this year, while Dan McPherson was also moved on from his role as football operations manager and replaced by Todd Viney.
Amarfio's successor is yet to be found, with former AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou stepping in to help his former club in their search.
Now, according to SEN's Sam Edmund, the Roos are seen likely to acquire Lloyd from the Cats for their vacant chief executive position.
Lloyd has built a prolific CV through his time in the industry, having held previous roles with Collingwood, Hawthorn and Fremantle before joining Geelong, where he was the club's director of coaching before stepping into the general manager of football role.
North Melbourne aren't alone in their pursuit of a new CEO, with Essendon and Collingwood also seeking new figures atop their football departments.
Western Bulldogs great Brad Johnson recently told Sportsday that any club searching for a new CEO should pursue Lloyd's services.
“The one for me, the one name I would go to chase (if I was a club looking for a CEO) is Simon Lloyd from Geelong Football Club," Johnson said.
“Simon has got the experience across a number of different platforms over a period of time and what he's been able to do in helping set up the stability at the Cats and the way they do things from a football point of view has been huge.
“Can he step up to be a CEO of a club? I've got no question (he can).”
