Western Bulldogs swingman Buku Khamis has put pen to paper on a new deal, signing a two-year extension to remain at Whitten Oval.

After a slow opening five seasons at the Bulldogs, signing as a Category B Rookie in 2018 and playing 10 games, Khamis' 2024 year showcased his immense talent and athleticism.

The 24-year-old featured in 17 games and was a key reason for the club's resurgence into finals as an intercepting defender.

Having previously received interest from rival clubs, Khamis' commitment to the Dogs' future is a testament to the direction of Luke Beveridge's side, something he is "very excited" about.

โ€œI am very excited to be locked in at the Kennel for two more years,โ€ Khamis said.

โ€œI love the playing group and coaches โ€“ I still feel like I have a lot of development left in me.

โ€œThe club has done a lot for myself and my family. The culture is amazing, we are a pretty tight group โ€“ it made my choice pretty easy.

โ€œI've taken a lot of confidence out of this season, what I've been able to do with the coaches and players, I'll take that into 2025.โ€

Western Bulldogs General Manager of List and Recruiting Sam Power was stoked with the signing, saying how valuable Khamis is to the side.

โ€œBuku has continued to develop this season after his first full pre-season in the backline,โ€ Power said.

โ€œAs a club, we're pleased to have Buku with us for at least the next two seasons, with plenty of growth and development left in his game.

โ€œHe has shown an ability to intercept and use his aerial ability to good effect in games this season, taking a significant step forward with 17 AFL appearances.โ€

Khamis was the club's first Next Generation Academy (NGA) graduate and is a participant in the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation's Ready SETTLE Go (CALDPlay) program.
