West Coast premiership defender Tom Barrass' name has once again hit the desks of rival clubs as a potential trade target.
After a failed attempt from Sydney in last year's trade period, AFL Media's Cal Twomey revealed that Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs have expressed interest in acquiring Barrass.
The 28-year-old hails from Western Australia and is a strong commodity at the Eagles under coach Adam Simpson, meaning "it would take a good offer to get him out".
"There is growing interest again in West Coast's Tom Barrass," Twomey said on Gettable.
"So Sydney made a big play for Barrass last year but he stayed of course.
"Clubs have come again. My understanding is Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs have shown their interest in Barrass, who is contracted for another three seasons until the end of 2027.
"He turns 29 this year so it would take a good offer to get him out, clearly.
"The Eagles are also looking at it and doing some work around keeping him with his deal, locking him to stay. So he'll have a decision to make again."
The Pies and Dogs do have key defensive needs on their side, with the 2023 premiers relying on veteran Jeremy Howe and undersized Brayden Maynard after the retirement of Nathan Murphy earlier in the year.
As for Luke Beveridge's men, Liam Jones (33 years) and Alex Keath (32) have also been regulars in the lineup but will be looking to hang up the boots shortly.
Both clubs do have youngsters coming through in Charlie Dean (22) and Jedd Busslinger (20).
Barrass would help bridge the current crop with the up-and-comers if a deal could be struck.
As it stands, neither Collingwood nor the Western Bulldogs hold a first-round selection in this year's draft, which would likely be a requirement if the Eagles were to entertain a trade.
