Essendon have unveiled new jumper numbers for their eight recruits, with young draft sensation Elijah Tsatas handed the famous No.5 jumper ahead of his maiden year in the AFL.

That jumper, which was previously worn by Devon Smith, was made famous by the likes of Bombers legends Terry Daniher and James Hird, who tallied almost 550 games between them.

Tsatas joined Essendon as the fifth overall selection in last week's National Draft, heading to Tullamarine following a sensational draft year with the Oakleigh Chargers.

Highly-rated rookie Lewis Hayes will pull on the No.18 jumper, following in the footsteps of iconic key position players for Essendon this century in Matthew Lloyd and Michael Hurley.

Fellow draftees Alwyn Davey Jr and Jayden Davey will wear the No.33 and No.36 jumpers respectively, with the latter set to don the same number his uncle, Aaron, wore for Melbourne.

Mature-aged draftee Rhett Montgomerie will wear the No.38 jumper, while NGA talent Anthony Munkara will pull on the No.45 for the red and black.

Trade recruits Sam Weideman and Will Setterfield will pull on the No.10 and No.12 jumpers respectively.
