First-year Kangaroos Wil Dawson, Riley Hardeman and Finnbar Maley have all inked contract extensions for an additional year at North Melbourne.

Maley's extension will see the raw key forward/ruck stay at Arden Street until the end of 2025 at least, whilst Dawson and Hardeman will remain Kangaroos through to 2026.

North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said the three youngsters showed plenty of promise in their first season.

"All three players have taken strides forward during their first year," Rawlings said.

"Riley impressed with his pace and attack on the ball and Wil and Finnbar with their versatility and aerial presence.

"We look forward to watching them take further steps in their development."

Selected at Pick 22 in the 2023 AFL Draft, Dawson has developed through the VFL for most of 2024 as a key position player. At 200cm, Dawson made his debut in Round 10 against Essendon as a key defender, holding his spot in Round 11 and 13, until a shoulder injury against West Coast put his season on ice.

His best performance came in Round 11 against Port Adelaide, recording 11 disposals, four marks and six contested possessions.

Hardeman too managed to play three games in his first year at the club. Taken just one pick behind Dawson at Pick 23, Hardeman made his debut in Round 8 against Adelaide.

Playing his best game on debut, Hardeman recorded 12 disposals and three rebound 50s as a line-breaking medium defender. The Western Australia-born 19-year-old also had solid VFL outings, averaging 15 disposals and 4.5 marks.

Maley is another key position player developing through the VFL. Yet to debut, the 21-year-old played 18 reserves games as a key forward or ruckman, averaging a goal a game and 13.8 disposals. His best performance came in Round 2 with 2.3 and 21 disposals against Carlton's reserves side.

The trio of extensions add on to Tuesday's three re-signings at North Melbourne, where Will Phillips, Toby Pink and Robert Hansen jnr all signed on until at least 2025.
