A pair of top draft prospects have expressed their excitement at the thought of potentially joining North Melbourne through the 2022 National Draft.

The Roos shape as one of the key players for this month's count, currently holding Picks 2 and 3 as they look to get the best out of an off-season that saw them part with Jason Horne-Francis and Pick 1 during the trade window.

With four-time premiership coach Alastair Clarkson now at the helm, acquiring a pair of top-end prospects is sure to aid the former Hawthorn coach's plans for the future at Arden Street.

Among the list of draft targets North have assessed with their pair of early selections, the Roos have been heavily tied to Oakleigh midfielder George Wardlaw and Sandringham forward Harry Sheezel.

Wardlaw has closely rivalled highly-rated Lions father-son gun Will Ashcroft as the best prospect for the class of 2022, while Sheezel linked up with Ashcroft at the Dragons to help claim the NAB League title this year.

Once teammates with Vic Metro at the National Championships level, Wardlaw and Sheezel are tipped to reunite as top selections for the Kangaroos.

"Anything can happen," Wardlaw told media at a Connors Sports management-led training session this week.

"It's not 100 per cent confirmed but I think about it and I'm very comfortable with (joining North Melbourne).

"It'd be awesome."

Sheezel, a passionate Hawthorn supporter, has been buoyed by the idea of working under Clarkson at the Roos, a scenario that would feel like a dream for the livewire prospect.

"It was probably like a dream of mine because I just saw him as this unbelievable coach," Sheezel said on working under Clarkson.

"He's just like a mastermind. To maybe be playing under him is pretty exciting."

The first night of the National Draft will take place on Monday, November 28, when the first round of draft selections are picked.
