Both Carlton and the Western Bulldogs are said to be considering moves for a pair of ex-AFL players ahead of next week's Mid-Season Draft.
Nominations for the May intake have closed, while the draft order will be finalised following the results of this weekend's Round 11 action.
The Blues currently have two selections for the draft, having lost both Sam Docherty and Jack Silvagni to ACL injuries earlier this year, while the Bulldogs have two as well after Bailey Smith's knee injury and the retirement of Aiden O'Driscoll.
There are currently up to 26 selections for the Mid-Season Draft, with all clubs except Geelong, Sydney and GWS having open list spots.
Currently, the Bulldogs and Blues sit eighth and ninth in the draft order, with their second sections coming at Picks 20 and 21 overall if they choose to use them.
According to AFL.com.au, both sides are potentially looking to add AFL experience to their lists through next week's count.
Carlton is said to be showing some interest in former Richmond first-round pick Riley Collier-Dawkins, who returned to Victoria this year by joining VFL outfit Williamstown.
The ex-Tiger spent the 2023 season in the SANFL with Woodville-West Torrens following his delisting at Punt Road, where he played 11 games across four years.
The 24-year-old has played eight games for the Seagulls this year, averaging 23.6 disposals, 5.4 tackles and 6.3 clearances in a side that's lost one game in 2024.
While the Blues potentially look to hand Collier-Dawkins an AFL lifeline, the Western Bulldogs could recruit former Collingwood wingman Trent Bianco out of Footscray next Wednesday as well.
Bianco, who was cut from the Magpies at the end of their successful 2023 campaign, has been among the top VFL performers across this year since landing at the Kennel.
The outside ball-winner is averaging 21.7 disposals and over a goal per game in an undefeated Footscray side and earned himself a spot in the VFL representative side that faced the SANFL in Gather Round last month.
A move for Bianco by the Bulldogs would follow the club's Mid-Season selection of fellow ex-Magpie turned Footscray recruit Caleb Poulter, who was taken with Pick 10 in last year's draft.
Poulter played nine games for the Western Bulldogs after his move last year and has added a further two appearances this year, while his form in the VFL has been strong.
Bianco and Poulter spent two years together at Olympic Park and are now crucial pieces for VFL ladder leaders Footscray.
The Dogs' reserves have one more game before the Mid-Season Draft, hosting Port Melbourne at Whitten Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The 2024 AFL Mid-Season Draft will be held on Wednesday, May 29.
