Collingwood star Jordan De Goey could be ruled out of the remainder of the 2024 season after suffering a suspected "high-grade" hamstring injury in the three-point win against Carlton.

Built over the week to celebrate Scott Pendlebury's 400th game, De Goey returned from persistent groin and abdomen issues that have plagued his year, but a fresh hamstring strain seems to be the cherry on top.

The 28-year-old was immediately subbed off late in the third term after clutching his left hamstring, bringing on sub Patrick Lipinski.

De Goey was instrumental playing predominantly in the front half, slotting two goals from 12 touches and five score involvements.

"I've just been told it's high-grade. Obviously, it's not great for him," Pies coach Craig McRae said.

"I would have thought it is difficult for him to play in the short to medium term. We'll get a scan and work through that."

Channel 9's Tom Morris confirmed the terrible news for Pies fans.

As for Collingwood, their season is still hanging by a thread after Mitch McGovern's after-the-siren shot on goal went wayward.

McRae and his men will travel to Sydney to face the out-of-sorts Swans who were handed a belting from Port Adelaide to the tune of 112 points.

"This is the time of year you want to get hot. We're not quite hot, but we're simmering. There is definitely some momentum coming," McRae said.

"We got personnel back in that (has) strengthened us up. There are some certain things in our game that we rely on and we can see. To win contested possession against this team is really important. For most of the game, it looked like a Collingwood-style game. Some good signs."
