Footy broadcasters Triple M have launched a campaign to prompt the governing body of the Adelaide Oval to pay a befitting tribute to the recently retired champion, Eddie Betts.

A petition crafted by Josh Morrow has been constructed in an effort to have the portion of the forward 50 that sits beneath the historic scoreboard renamed permanently as 'Eddie's Pocket'.

In a statement attached to the entreat, Morrow wrote:

"With Eddie Betts announcing his retirement, we here at Triple M have the perfect way to celebrate the great man's legacy.

Eddie Bett's iconic pocket will forever belong to him, so we think it's time it was permanently marked. Adelaide Oval, we're looking at you!

Sign this petition to show your support and make 'The Eddie Betts Pocket' an official part of The Adelaide Oval.

If Roo has his own stand, surely we can give Eddie a pocket!"

At the time of writing, the document currently has more than 3,600 signatures, with the goal to collect 5,000 in total.

The patch of ground in front of the left side of the Adelaide Oval hill became synonymous with the deeds of the dead-eyed Betts once he began slotting mercurial majors from the position after crossing to the Crows from Carlton ahead of the 2014 season.

Betts formerly retired from AFL football last week after 350-games and 640-scintillating goals across a 17-season career.
