West Coast recruit Drew Petrie is set to miss up to 10 weeks after suffering a broken hand in the opening minutes of Sunday's win over North Melbourne.

The new Eagle played out the remainder of the game against his former club, however, admitted the injury clearly hampered his performance.

"I was probably 21-and-a-half players out there, I didn't do a great deal for the side," Petrie said on Monday.

"I didn't want to have us with only 21 players to use for the remainder of the game."

Petrie kicked a goal and managed to accumulate 10 hit outs in the win, but his injury means the Eagles now have three ruckman on their injury list.

Nic Naitanui remains out with an ACL injury and could still miss the entire season while Scott Lycett remains two months away from a return following a dislocated shoulder.

West Coast pulled ruckman Jonathan Giles from East Perth's WAFL clash on Sunday following the news on Petrie and it seems he will come in for their clash against St Kilda on Saturday.

He will share the ruck duties with former Geelong big man, Nathan Vardy, who finished with 10 disposals and 16 hitouts on his debut for the Eagles.
