Western Bulldogs star Liam Picken is said to still be suffering from low-level headaches as he continues to recover from a serious concussion injury.
The injury which occurred during the 2018 JLT series with teammate Josh Dunkley ruled him out for the entire 2018 season as the medical staff at the Dogs took a very cautious approach.
The 2016 premiership hero has been hitting the pre-season training track form day one, despite still not being involved in contract drills.
Medical services manager Chris Bell told westernbulldogs.com.au they are keeping a close eye on Picken as he aims to made a return to the AFL.
"(Liam) does still has some low-level headaches, and we're working closely with his specialists around his return to full training," Bell said.
"At the moment he's non-contact, and he'll remain non-contact until we get the green light."
More worrying signs for the Dogs continue to emerge as fifth-year midfielder Lukas Webb remains in a neck brace after sustaining a vertebrate injury in the VFL earlier on in August.
The 22-year-old remains in limbo on when he will be permitted to return to full training.
Bell said Webb is able to do a few pre-season training skills.
"Lukas sustained a really rare compression injury to one of the vertebrae in his upper back, but he's back doing some low-level running," Bell said.
"Although he still is in his neck brace, we're going to re-scan Lukas in about eight weeks, which will give more information about how fully healed the injury is."
In other injury news for the Dogs, wingman Bailey Dale remains on a modified program as he recovers from a stress injury to his navicular bone in the foot and will likely return to full training in the next four to five weeks.
Jason Johannisen (hip) and Caleb Daniel (knee) wont be joining the main group until after Christmas, meanwhile Billy Gowers is running strongly after sustaining a fractured wrist he gained in a car accident last month.
